Farah is an LCSW-C (Licensed Certified Social Worker–Clinical) in Maryland and a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in DC with experience working with children, adolescents, emerging adults, adults, and families across the lifespan (ages 0+) in multiple settings. She is also a Registered Play Therapist™. As a child advocate and supporter of early intervention, she is passionate about the power of therapeutic play. Farah integrates an empathic, attuned, and affirming approach with evidence-based, relationship-focused play therapy engagement that fosters the use of all five senses.
Farah fosters healing and growth in clients experiencing a variety of challenges, including anxiety, neurodivergence, ADHD, executive functioning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, sensory integration concerns, mood and self-esteem challenges, OCD, social skills deficits, interpersonal conflict, trauma, attachment trauma, separation, and divorce. She supports clients’ existing strengths and resilience with deep respect for their cultures and identities. Farah utilizes creative methods in her work with children and teens, including art, sandtray, sandplay, movement, and music, and also practices trauma-informed EMDR.
Farah’s therapeutic approach cultivates a warm and accepting space where clients feel empowered to cope with life’s challenges. She uses an integrative framework that combines family systems, strengths-based, attachment-based, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral interventions. She supports clients in developing stronger connections with others while fostering self-awareness, self-compassion, and more effective coping skills.
In her work with children, Farah employs child-centered, play-based, and sensorimotor approaches while collaborating closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen relationships and help families thrive. She is certified as a Foundational Theraplay® Practitioner and incorporates techniques from Theraplay and Filial Play Therapy to enhance child-parent connection and attachment.
Farah earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work and Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and Behavioral Health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
Farah is credentialed as a Registered Play Therapist™ through the Association for Play Therapy and earned certification as a Foundational Theraplay® Practitioner through The Theraplay Institute. She completed EMDR Consulting’s EMDRIA-approved training course and holds certification in Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, enabling her to provide Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Additional training includes Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) and Clinical Fundamentals of Autism: Screening and Affirming Play Therapy Treatment for Autistic Youth through Chesapeake Beach Seminars.
